About the Branch
Arbroath Branch Club History. The Arbroath and District Branch was formed on April 28th 1935 by Sir William Chapel, Provost of the Royal Burgh of Arbroath. At the Inaugural meeting Sir William Chapel asked the then Lt. Col. The Earl of Airlie K.C.V.O, M.C Chairman of The Royal British Legion (Scotland) to take the chair. We have been a part of Arbroath ever since and we had our Golden Jubilee in 1985. In 2010 we celebrated our 75th Anniversary. In the year 2000 the Royal British Legion Scotland decided to split Branches with Clubs so that the Branch became the Charity and the Club the business. The Club basically makes the money to keep our premises in good order & repair and also pays a yearly rent to the Branch as well as pay the staff wages. The building stays under the wings of the Branch and Charity number.
Who we help.
We help serving and ex-Service personnel and their families. Not just those who fought in the two World Wars, but also those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still in action today.
Branch Trustees.
The Branch Trustees are responsible to the Royal British Legion Scotland via the Area Council to its HQ's National Executive Committee. They run the Branch on their behalf and the nominated persons from each of the RBLS Branches are the following persons:
