Club Chairman's Corner for 2012 Our Club Entertainments & Events
Here at the Arbroath Branch Club, we try to cater for the needs of our members, guests & visitors as well as those still serving in the forces. We try to be active in the community and assist where we can best fulfill the need. We make every attempt to make the lives' of our 'senior' members more comfortable and pleasant while not ignoring the needs of our many other members.
W
e have an active sporting section that arranges activities internally and with other clubs, such as pool, darts, bowls, dominoes, cribbage, golf etc., some being bus trips away from the club for a days outing. We also cater for people with disabilities etc., in terms of wheelchair access to all ground level areas at the moment with disabled toilet facilities. We take pride in our club, come along and make use of our facilities, and remember, guests of members & visitors are always welcome. We have excellent bar facilities which offer a large range of alcoholic & non alcoholic beverages at very competitive prices.

Our bar prices are some of the competitive prices in town and we constantly strive to keep our prices down. Obviously we cannot do anything to stop Government price rises such as VAT etc. Our main supplier is Heineken UK.

Key beers and lagers include, John Smiths extra smooth, Fosters, Strongbow Cider, McEwan's 80/-, Guinness extra cold.

Please note guests of members must be signed in at all times

Our past year (2011)  our Club took a knocking from the recession and Government polocies we could not do nothing about. Howevber, we could not have been brought through the year successful enough without the help of a great committee where we have a wealth of different skills and experience. We all owe them our sincere thanks.

We have continued to invest in the clubs upkeep to the best of our ability and of course money constraints. Our development plan for 2012 will ensure we continue with new projects to further enhance the club.

2011 was a challenging year and I am confident our committee will rise to the fore to deliver yet another successful year in 2012.
The club offers some of the best facilities in Arbroath, as Legion Clubs go, and we offer you a very warm welcome.
We welcome all prospective members, you do not have to be serving in the armed forces to become a new member of our club so do please contact us for more information.

We have undertaken a number of improvements including the refurbishment of the Sports Bar, with air conditioning units and two brand new Pool tables, Main hall is now getting air conditioning units fitted, increased membership and undertaken electrical and other works and of course this website which will continually be developed. Well done and thank you to all who have made this happen. With your support we will continue to move forward.
There are further plans to develop better facilities but we have a long way to go especially with the money constraints.
I am extremely pleased to welcome our 2012 committee - we are here to serve the needs of the Club members.

Branch Trustees

Depending on the individual charity and its legal form, the charity trustees may be called board members, directors, management committee members, trustees or whatever is relevant to the charity. Whatever the terminology used by the charity, for the purposes of the legislation, the group of people who manage and control the charity are known as trustees, Charity trustees must act in the interests of the charity. Charity Trustees must do what is best for the charity.

Club Committee

The Club Committee run the club as the trading arm of the Branch. It is in their best interests to make sure the Club is in profit and does not make a loss. Those members on the Club Committee are mostly un-trained in operating a Club professionally but they do the best they can. Anyone can become a member of the Club Ciommittee, we are always looking for new younger members to join with new ideas to move us forwards into the next century.

Pensions & Welfare Advisor

The Branch Pensions & Welfare advisor assists any ex-serviceman or woman, whether a member or not, to pursue their possible entitlement to a War Disablement Pension or help out the best they can in their welfare.
The P & W Advisor can be contacted via the Branch. Please do not put off getting in touch with the advisor, he can get things moving very quickly and will save you a lot of problems later on.
