Welfare Team - Arbroath Area Community Support

The Royal British Legion Scotland Caring and campaigning for the serving and ex-Service community
The Royal British Legion Scotland national website provides a wealth of support initiatives to support current and ex service personnel and their families. Locally we provide support within our area to compliment these services.
Our Welfare Team will be pleased to hear from any service person or their family requiring assistance. You do not have to be ex or currenlty serving to complete this form. Complete the name of the person requiring contact and add your details (if you wish) at the bottom of the message box.

The Royal British Legion Scotland plays an active role in the local community, and we rely on the help of our members to carry out our work in their local areas. There are many ways people can help and become involved, and it is essential to our work for the ex-Service community. We are also an active membership organisation, and invite everyone, whether they are ex-Service or not, to become a member.

The Welfare committee is led by Mr. Earl Russell (RN Retired) who is also a trained SSAFA case worker.

How The Royal British Legion Scotland Arbroath Branch can help you

Our Welfare team is here to help. We are part of the Legion's extensive Welfare Support services. If you are serving, have served or are the dependent or carer of someone who has served in the UK's Armed Forces, then you are eligible for our help.

We can offer financial aid in an urgent crisis, help homeless ex-Service people get back on their feet, advise on compensation claims, offer careers advice for those looking to make a fresh start after leaving the Forces, arrange home or hospital visits and much more.

Please contact our Welfare Officer to see how they can help you.

Branch Trustees

Depending on the individual charity and its legal form, the charity trustees may be called board members, directors, management committee members, trustees or whatever is relevant to the charity. Whatever the terminology used by the charity, for the purposes of the legislation, the group of people who manage and control the charity are known as trustees, Charity trustees must act in the interests of the charity. Charity Trustees must do what is best for the charity.

Club Committee

The Club Committee run the club as the trading arm of the Branch. It is in their best interests to make sure the Club is in profit and does not make a loss. Those members on the Club Committee are mostly un-trained in operating a Club professionally but they do the best they can. Anyone can become a member of the Club Ciommittee, we are always looking for new younger members to join with new ideas to move us forwards into the next century.

Pensions & Welfare Advisor

The Branch Pensions & Welfare advisor assists any ex-serviceman or woman, whether a member or not, to pursue their possible entitlement to a War Disablement Pension or help out the best they can in their welfare.
The P & W Advisor can be contacted via the Branch. Please do not put off getting in touch with the advisor, he can get things moving very quickly and will save you a lot of problems later on.
